Objectiu de la convocatòria
The SIB Early Career Bioinformatician Award acknowledges international early career bioinformaticians and ground-breaking resources of national or international standing.
Característiques principals
The international awards honour excellence in bioinformatics and computational biology within three categories:
  • PhD Paper Award: outstanding papers published by a PhD student in the area of bioinformatics and/or computational biology. The chosen theme for 2025 Theme: “Bioinformatics meets AI: shaping the future of data-driven biology”
  • Early Career Award: international early careers who demonstrate excellence through one or several projects and/or papers in bioinformatics and/or computational biology. This encompasses original methodological contributions, as well as innovative in silico analysis of biological sequences, structures or processes.
  • Innovative Resource Award: recognizes a bioinformatics resource (database, infrastructure, code-base, analysis framework, visualisation tool, etc.) that is breaking new conceptual and/or technical ground. The award is open to any new bioinformatics resource or any major new release of a resource.

    Requisits
  • Candidates may only submit in one category.
  • Candidate need to point out if he/she had major contributions to an application submitted in another category.
    Plese check the Terms and Conditions document for specific eligibility requirements of each award category.

  • PhD Paper Award: 5’000 CHF
  • Early Career Award: 10’000 CHF
  • Innovative Resource Award: 10’000 CHF

    Awardess will be invited to attend the [BC]2 Basel Computational Biology Conference, during which the SIB Awards Ceremony takes place
  • Documentació
    Applications may be submitted by the Candidate him/herself or any professor working in the field of bioinformatics or computational biology.
    Applications must include the following components:
  • Major research achievements
  • CV
  • (optional) PhD or Master thesis
