Objectiu de la convocatòria
The 2025 António Champalimaud Vision Award recognises groups that contributed to the fight against blindness and visual impairment, primarily in developing regions and/or have developed innovations or new technologies that impact on the quality of life of the blind and visually impaired. |

Característiques principals
The award is presented in alternate years for contributions, primarily in developing countries, to the alleviation of visual problems and contributions to overall vision research. The award is presented in even-numbered years to groups with outstanding contributions towards the prevention and alleviation of blindness and visual impairment, primarily in developing countries. In odd-numbered years the award is presented to active research groups involved in basic or clinical research which has led to a major breakthrough in the understanding and/or the preservation of vision. Candidates may apply directly or be nominated by recognised members of the scientific community. |

Requisits
Award candidates may be leading laboratories, organisations, or projects resulting from collaborative efforts, dedicated to vision research (1); the preservation and restitution of vision or to the facilitation of access to such measures by underserved populations (2); fighting blindness in the field (3); and the development of new technologies to assist the visually impaired (4). Candidates can be from more than one discipline or institution. The Award focus, and its eligible candidates alternate from odd to even years. |
