Característiques principals
GNAO1 is a protein-coding gene associated with a neurodevelopmental disorder diagnosed in infancy or early childhood. Symptoms include refractory seizures, abnormal movements, and developmental delays, often worsening with age. Deep brain stimulation surgery has helped some patients, including a 2-year-old in the UK. The Orphan Disease Center and Bow Foundation are funding research to advance understanding and treatment of GNAO1 disorders. Focus areas include: |

All individuals holding a faculty-level appointment at an academic institution or a senior position at a non-profit institution or foundation are eligible to respond to this RFA. |

One-year grants to support research related to GNAO1 Neurodevelopmental Disorder: At least 2 awards will be granted at $100,000 each. |
Documentació
The application requires a cover page, biosketches or CVs (5 pages max) for the PI and key personnel, and a detailed budget with justifications. A 5-page research plan must outline aims, background, methods, and resource access, accompanied by a 1-page bibliography. An appendix (5 pages max) can include supplemental data, reprints, and relevant approval or support letters. |

This is a two stage application, with a Letter of Intent, and a Full Proposal. However, the full proposal is due just 2 weeks after the LOI, so be sre to prepare both with plenty of time. |
