Objectiu de la convocatòria
This prize recognises outstanding mid-career neuroscientists whose work focuses on the nervous system and advances understanding of the causal mechanisms of brain diseases. Special consideration is given to researchers who have followed non-linear or challenging career paths due to personal, social, or structural constraints.

Requisits
Candidates can be of any origin and can reside in any country.
Eligibility is limited to PhD holders without additional medical degrees.
Candidates must have a proven track record of conducting innovative and influential research, as evidenced by high-quality independent publications.
Candidates are typically mid-career researchers (e.g. group leaders, assistant professors, recent associate professors, or equivalent) who demonstrate scientific independence through indicators such as independent publications or student mentoring. Unconventional career trajectories are welcome, and career stage is assessed relative to opportunity.
Research may be conducted in any area of of neuroscience/brain research, with significant and original contributions and with potential for improving understanding of the causal mechanisms of brain diseases.
Self-nominations or nominations by peers/institutions are accepted.

Dotació
€15,000€ in prize money for personal use.
€3,500 in travel allowance to cover expenses associated with attending the FENS Forum 2026 in Barcelona.

Documentació
CV (max. 3 pages): Include education/training, positions held, independent research funding, awards (if any), key publications (max. 15, noting role), selected conference presentations, supervision of trainees/alumni, and other relevant information.
Research summary (max. 1 page): Highlight originality, rigor, impact, and relevance to the prize's scope.
"Relative to Opportunity" statement (max. 2 pages): Provide a brief timeline and narrative of any constraints affecting career development or productivity, explaining achievements in context. Avoid sensitive personal details.
Endorsement letter (max. 1 page): A senior colleague should briefly confirm research independence and the context of your achievements.
Applications must be electronically submitted through the ALBA Network's website as a single, consolidated electronic document in PDF format, using a standard font size not smaller than 11 points and with 2.54 cm. margins.
