Objectiu de la convocatòria
This call supports basic and mechanistic research projects on neuromuscular and rare diseases, aimed at understanding biological mechanisms and developing therapeutic approaches.
Característiques principals
Research topics of interest:
  • Projects on muscle, motor neuron, or neuromuscular junction physiology and/or neuromuscular diseases:
    - Fundamental research projects aimed at increasing our understanding of molecular, cellular, physiological and pathological mechanisms, involving the structure and function of skeletal muscles, motor neurons, neuromuscular junctions, aging and degeneration/regeneration in physiological and pathological conditions.
    - Research projects aimed at increasing our understanding of the clinical and genetic heterogeneity of neuromuscular diseases.
    - Genetic cardiomyopathies with muscle structure abnormalities.
    - Physiopathology of smooth muscle in relation to neuromuscular diseases.
    - Differentiation of adult, embryonic and iPS stem cells into skeletal/ cardiac muscles or neuronal cells (including motor neurons) (in physiological and pathological conditions).
    - Genetic/epigenetic regulation of genes and characterization of gene regulation networks within the neuromuscular system.
    - Pharmacotherapies of neuromuscular diseases.
    - Translational research: tools for evaluation of treatments for neuromuscular diseases.
  • Projects on rare genetic diseases (including neuromuscular diseases):
    - Gene and/or cell therapy for rare genetic disorders.
    - Strategies for modifying gene expression both at the gene and RNA level.

    Requisits
Open to both French and international research teams; however, proposals from groups outside France are strongly encouraged to include a French partner.

    Funding types:
  • Research grants: For researchers or clinical investigators holding a permanent position or long-term contract (≥ 5 years), in an academic, governmental or private institution. For multi-team projects, only the Principal Investigator must hold a permanent position or a long-term position.
  • Trampoline grants: For young investigators early in their professional careers (holding permanent or non-permanent positions) who obtained their PhD degree or equivalent within the last 10 years at the date of application submission, and for early-stage, innovative, high-risk but potentially groundbreaking projects (preliminary data is not mandatory).
  • Durada
Research grants: one-year award, renewable for a second year
    Trampoline grants: one-year award
