Objectiu de la convocatòria
The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds offers travel grants for junior scientists worldwide conducting experimental projects in basic biomedical research, who wish to undertake short-term research stays or practical courses relevant to their work in Europe or abroad.
Característiques principals
  • Research stays: to visit another laboratory.
  • Courses: to attend research-oriented courses where the practical component makes up at least 50% of the course.
  • Pre-PhD visits: for PhD candidates and their potential supervisors, to evaluate scientific and personal fit before starting a PhD project abroad, by funding a research stay of one to three months in the supervisor's laboratory.

    Applications may be submitted at any time, provided they are no later than six weeks and no earlier than six months before the planned date of departure.
    Requisits
  • European citizens working in Europe and overseas, and to non-European citizens who perform their MD, PhD or postdoctoral project in Europe, or will use the travel grant to work in Europe.
  • PhD and MD students, as well as graduates, who obtained their university entrance degree within the eleven years prior to the research visit.
  • Postdoctoral researchers who obtained their university entrance degree within the thirteen years prior to the research visit.

    The application for a travel grant consists of two parts, both submitted via the online portal: an application form containing the applicant's personal data, along with all required supporting documents. The information and documents required depend on the type of activity being applied for—whether a research stay, a course, or a visit as a PhD candidate. A detailed list is provided in the documentation below.
