Objectiu de la convocatòria
This award recognises early-career researchers for their PhD thesis in the life sciences. Eligible entrants must have been awarded their doctoral degree within the previous two years, and their thesis must be in one of the following categories: Cell and Molecular Biology; Genomics, Proteomics, and Systems Biology; Ecology and Environment; Molecular Medicine.

Thesis categories:
  • Cell and Molecular Biology: Cellular and molecular processes ranging from single molecules and cells to tissues and organ systems.
  • Genomics, Proteomics and Systems Biology approaches: Genomics, proteomics, integrative omics and systems biology approaches, including computational methods, to achieve a comprehensive understanding of living cells, organisms and species.
  • Ecology and Environment: Interactions between organisms and their environment, including how these processes are influenced by human activity.
  • Molecular Medicine: Building on the molecular understanding of human disease to develop preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, including personalised medicine.

    Requisits
  • Entrants for the 2026 prize must have been awarded their PhD between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2025. Only one submission per entrant will be accepted within this period.
  • Submissions, including figures and images, must not be generated using AI or similar tools. Limited editing with tools such as Grammarly is allowed but must be declared.
  • Each entry must be from a single individual and focus on their own contribution.
  • An entrant may not win more than one Science Prize with the same or a similar essay based on the same research, and each piece of research may only receive one prize.
  • Previous winners are not eligible to apply again until five years after receiving the award.
    • Dotació
    $30,000 for the grand prize winner, $10,000 for each of the category winners.
