Objectiu de la convocatòria
This call supports investigator-initiated, proof-of-concept, Phase I or Phase IIA clinical trials aimed at validating artificial intelligence (AI)-driven repurposing approaches in any unsolved disease, where the therapies identified by AI models are already approved. Eligible clinical repurposing trials must include AI-generated data as part of the preclinical support for the trial.
Característiques principals
  • Projects must be interventional, proof of concept, Phase I or Phase IIA clinical trials testing repurposed therapies, either alone or in combination with standard of care or other repurposed therapies, in a new indication to address any unsolved disease.
  • Any unsolved disease is eligible, although there is a preference for rare diseases.
  • Both on- and off-patent drugs and biologics are eligible, although there is a preference for off-patent compounds.
  • AI-generated data from any model is eligible, although there is a preference for openly accessible models and for models developed by nonprofits or government institutions.

    The call follows a two-stage submission process. Letters of intent must be submitted via ProposalCentral.
    Requisits
  • Eligible institutions are accredited academic or nonprofit research institutions and/or health systems involved in medical research.
  • Eligible proposals can be led either by a previously funded investigator or by an early-stage investigator who has received little or no extramural research funding to date.
  • Principal Investigators who have not received extramural funding previously and/or who do not currently have their own lab must include a letter of support from a funded senior researcher who will act as a mentor for the proposed research and for the investigator.
