Objectiu de la convocatòria
This program provides mentored research funding to promising early-career investigators in clinical oncology, supporting physicians as they transition from a fellowship training to a faculty appointment.
Característiques principals
For 2027, eligible areas include, but are not limited to, ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase)-related cancers, breast cancer, colon cancer, genomics, therapeutics, pancreatic cancer, paediatric cancers, prostate cancer and sarcoma.

Requisits
  • Applicants must be physicians (MD, DO or international equivalent). MD/PhD applicants are eligible if both degrees are completed before the start of the grant period.
  • At the time of submission, applicants must meet at least one of the following career-stage criteria:
    - Be within the last 2 years of their final accredited oncology subspecialty training or fellowship programme.
    - Be enrolled in an oncology training programme where the dedicated, protected research year takes place during the first year of the programme.
    - Have completed subspecialty training and be within the first year of their initial full-time academic faculty appointment, including instructor-level positions.
  • Applicants must be within 10 years of obtaining their terminal degree at the time of submission. Exceptions may apply for foreign medical graduates whose medical degree falls outside this period.
  • Applicants must be planning an investigative career in oncology.
  • Applicants should hold a valid, active medical licence in the country where the research will be conducted and be working in an oncology setting.
  • Applicants must have a mentor from the sponsoring institution.
  • Applicants must be ASCO members or have submitted a membership application with the grant application.
  • Applicants must be able to commit at least 60% of their full-time effort to research during the award period. This applies to total research activity, not only to the proposed project.
