Objectiu de la convocatòria
ESCMID has evolved to become Europe’s leading society in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases with members from all European countries and all continents. For more than 30 years, ESCMID has been an influential component in the professional lives of microbiologists and infectious disease specialists and now reaches more than 33’000 members and affiliated members around the world.
Característiques principals
The Young Investigator Award acknowledges excellence in research and stimulates further work at a top scientific level. The ESCMID Scientific Affairs Officer will present the award at the 26th ECCMID in Istanbul.

Requisits
  • Nominees for the award should be born on or after 1 January 1976.
  • Appropriate research may be based on laboratory investigations, clinical trials, animal studies, or a combination thereof.
  • Nominees must be employed (or have been until recently) at a European laboratory or hospital.
  • Members of the ESCMID Executive Committee are not eligible.
  • Self-applications are not accepted.
  • Dotació
    During the 26th ECCMID, the Young Investigator Awardee(s) will be honoured with a special session. Each awardee will be asked to give a 20-minute lecture on the topic of her/his main field of research. Their names will be published in the ECCMID Final Programme, the ESCMID Yearbook and on the ESCMID website.
    The price is endowed with EUR 5,000 to be used at the awardees’ discretion.
    Documentació
    All documentation is to be submitted electronically (no hard copies required). When submitting, please have the following documentation ready:
  • CV and proof of the nominee's age;
  • Complete list of publications, in which up to five publications over the last three years should be highlighted (in bold) to exemplify the nominee’s excellent work
  • Description of the candidate, her/his career, her/his research interests and personal contributions to the various research projects she or he has been participating in. Please combine 1) to 3) as PDF including the nominee’s name in the file name (max. 4MB)
  • Two letters of support from individuals outside of the nominating institution. Please submit as PDFs including the supports’ names in the file name (max 4MB)
  • A colour photograph including the nominee’s name in the file name (photograph should be .tiff, .eps or .jpg; max 4MB; at least 4 x 6 cm with 300 dpi resolution for publication).
