Objectiu de la convocatòria
The Grant for Fertility Innovation (GFI) supports the advancement of science and innovative technologies in the fertility field. Since 2010 Merck Serono has been awarding grants that total up to 10 million euros to translational research projects that could potentially improve take home baby rate for the benefits of the patients.
Característiques principals
Researchers from around the world may apply for a grant if they are involved in innovative clinical and translational research projects associated with drugs, processes and/or technologies applied during treatment with assisted reproductive technology, which could potentially provide an improvement in implantation, pregnancy and live birth rate.

More specifically, we suggest to submit projects related to the following topics:
How can TIME TO PREGNANCY and/or TIME TO LIVE BIRTH within ART be REDUCED in the best interest of patients by
  • optimizing prediction models
  • stratifying treatment approaches
  • using fertility technologies related to objective assessment of gametes, embryos and/or uterine implantation

    Applicants must be aware that to be eligible to apply they must have completed a pilot study with positive outcomes in the improvement of implantation, pregnancy and live birth rates. Clinical Trials testing, safety and efficacy of marketed drugs as primary outcomes are not within the scope of GFI grant.

    Requisits
    All proposals must fulfill specific inclusion criteria:
  • Must be within the scope of investigation for GFI.
  • Must be at translational research stage with a completed pilot study in humans proving improvement in implantation, pregnancy and take home baby rate.
  • No animal or basic research projects will be considered for GFI.
  • No research projects including embryo invasive technologies like PGD/PGS will be considered for GFI due to the German Embryo Protection Law.
  • Projects must not only be innovative and scientifically rational but also feasible to be applied on the clinical environment and of practical utility to improve outcomes for the benefit of the patients.
  • Dotació
    Typically, the budget will not exceed a total of 300.000 Euro, inclusive of all direct and indirect costs or overheads.
