Objectiu de la convocatòria
The goal of the FY20 LCRP is to eradicate deaths and suffering from lung cancer to better the health and welfare of military Service members, Veterans, and the American public. As such, the LCRP will support and integrate research from multiple disciplines for risk assessment, prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment for the control and cure of lung cancer.
Característiques principals
The proposed research must be relevant to active duty Service members, Veterans, military beneficiaries, and/or the American public.

To be considered for funding, applications for the FY20 LCRP Idea Development Award must address at least one of the nine Areas of Emphasis listed below.
  • Identify innovative strategies for prevention of the occurrence of lung cancer.
  • Identify innovative strategies for the screening and early detection of lung cancer.
  • Understand the molecular mechanisms of initiation and progression to lung cancer.
  • Understand contributors to lung cancer development other than tobacco
  • Identify innovative strategies for the treatment of lung cancer.
  • Identify innovative strategies for the prevention of recurrence of or metastases from lung cancer.
  • Develop or optimize prognostic or predictive markers to assist with therapeutic decision-making.
  • Understand mechanisms of resistance to treatment (primary and secondary).
  • Identify innovative strategies for lung cancer care delivery (disparities/clinical management/ surveillance/symptom management).

    The LCRP is currently accepting applications for five award mechanisms:
  • Career Development Award: Supports early-career, independent researchers to conduct research under the mentorship of an experienced lung cancer researcher.
  • Clinical Translational Research Partnership Award: ntended to fund partnerships between clinicians and laboratory scientists that accelerate ideas in lung cancer into clinical applications
  • Concept Award: Supports highly innovative, untested, potentially groundbreaking concepts in lung cancer.
  • Idea Development Award: Supports new ideas that are in the early stages of development representing innovative, high-risk/high-gain research. Emphasis is on innovation and impact.
  • Investigator-Initiated Translational Research Award: Supports translational research that will develop promising ideas in lung cancer into clinical applications. Translational research may be defined as an integration of basic science and clinical observations.

    All award mechanisms require a Pre-application/Letter of Intent through the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP) https://ebrap.org/
    Deadline 6 May 2020 (Idea Development Award, Investigator-Initiated Translational Research Award), 27 May 2020 (Concept Award), and 15 July 2020 (Career Development Award, Clinical Translational Research Partnership Award)
    Succesfull pre-applications will be invited to submit a full application submission through Grants.gov (http://www.grants.gov/)
    Deadline 29 July 2020 (Idea Development Award, Investigator-Initiated Translational Research Award, Career Development Award, Clinical Translational Research Partnership Award), and 10 june 2020 (Concept Award).

    The following deadlines have been extended:
  • Idea Development Award and Investigator-Initiated Translational Research Award: pre-application deadline extended to May 18, 2020
