The programme is designed to support basic and clinical research from emerging investigators in the field of liver disease.
Característiques principals
This may include, but is not limited to, research focused on:
  • Chronic viral hepatitis (B, C, D)
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
  • End-stage liver disease and its complications
  • Non-viral chronic liver diseases
  • Basic, clinical, and translational research related to liver disease
  • Health economics outcomes research relating to liver disease

    Requisits
    Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree at time of award
  • Anticipate receiving a faculty appointment or an assistant professorship within 3 years, in association with a research institution in one of the eligible countries
  • Have a strong career interest in liver disease
  • Have a research mentor with extensive experience in the field of liver disease
  • Be able to devote approximately 50% of professional time to research for the next 2 years (versus administrative, patient care, or teaching responsibilities)
  • Be able to complete the proposed research within the 2-year award period, providing evidence (manuscript, presentation, or abstracts) resulting from the research

    The Research Scholars Program in Liver Disease is open to emerging investigators from the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and certain Asian countries.

    Awards granted under the program may not be duplicative of funding from institutional or hospital, other governmental, non-governmental, or industry sources. Applicants seeking an award for research projects that are currently receiving, or may receive, partial funding from other sources are required to submit appropriate evidence, including budget information related to the other sources, to demonstrate that there is no direct overlap or duplication in funding, as outlined in the current and pending funding form.

    Up to USD130,000, to be paid in annual installments of up to USD65,000 per year for 2 years.
