Objectiu de la convocatòria
Travelling Fellowships of up to £3,000 to graduate students and post-doctoral researchers wishing to make collaborative visits to other laboratories.
Característiques principals
The Company of Biologists' journals – Development, Journal of Cell Science, The Journal of Experimental Biology, and Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) – offer fellowships to graduate students and post-doctoral researchers wishing to make collaborative visits to other laboratories. These are designed to offset the cost of travel and other expenses.

Applicants should be working in the field of the journal to which they apply.

The deadlines for application forms to be submitted are:
  • 03 February 2023 (for travel after 20 March 2023)
  • 05 May 2023 (for travel after 19 June 2023)
  • 11 August 2023 (for travel after 25 September 2023)
  • 27 October 2023 (for travel after 11 December 2023)
  • Requisits
    Applicants should be working in the field of the journal to which they apply and plan to visit another laboratory. Each application will be judged on the excellence of the candidate, as well as the importance and innovative quality of the work to be done.
    Who can apply for a Travelling Fellowship?
  • Early career scientists, which includes graduate students and post-doctoral researchers.
  • Applications are strictly limited to one journal per round of funding per person and only one person per home laboratory.
  • Travelling Fellowships can only be applied for once every 2 years per applicant from any of the Company’s journals.
  • Travelling Fellowships cannot be awarded to collaborations that have already commenced before the decision date, which can be up to 6 weeks after the deadline date.
  • Although there is no restriction on nationality, we are unable to pay awards to recipients in jurisdictions, countries or regions of the world subject to sanctions, embargoes or other political trade restrictions put in place by the United Nations, the EU or the UK.
  • Dotació
    Up to sterling pounds 3,000.
    Expenses include travel, subsistence, accommodation, visa fees and bench fees. Travel insurance costs are not to be included in the expenses.

    * Please note if your Head of Department is also your Supervisor, two letters should be written, one in each capacity.
