Objectiu de la convocatòria
ESCMID has evolved to become Europe’s leading society in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases with members from all European countries and all continents. For 40 years, ESCMID has been an influential component in the professional lives of microbiologists and infectious disease specialists.
Característiques principals
The Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding research by younger colleagues in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The Young Investigator Award acknowledges excellence in research and stimulates further work at a top scientific level. The ESCMID Scientific Affairs Officer will present the award at ECCMID 2024.

Requisits
ESCMID accepts only self-nominations for the award.
  • ESCMID members active in research is based on laboratory investigations, clinical trials/studies, animal studies, or a combination thereof.
  • Applicant holds an LMIC passport and is professionally active in the LMIC country.
  • If you are PhD you must be no longer than eight years* post-graduation
  • MD or MD/PhD with at least three years of postdoc or clinical experience but no longer than five years* from completion of clinical training/specialist.
  • Published at least three first-author publications in the last five years.
    • Dotació
    During ECCMID 2024, the Young Investigator Awardee(s) will be honoured with a special session. Each awardee will be asked to give a 15- to 20-minute lecture on the topic of their main field of research. The award winners will be announced through all ESCMID communication channels.
    The prize is endowed with EUR 5,000 to be used to any form of professional development (purchase of books, educational materials, attendance in congresses or training, etc).
    Documentació
    The application process will consist of an online CV template form to be filled out electronically during the window for application. No late alterations or submissions will be accepted.
    You will need to complete the following items for the application process:
    1) Online CV Template (incl. Personal statement, description of research interests and projects, list of top publications with 3 first author publications, etc.)
    2) Copy of the highest degree obtained (to be uploaded in English)
    3) Copy of the passport
    4) A colour photograph (labelled “YourSurname_Firstname”.tiff, .eps or .jpg; max. 4MB) at least 4 x 6 cm with 300 dpi resolution for publication
