The Scientific council of the ERC intends to make two significant changes in the next Work Programme:

- Revision of the ERC panel structure: in the Life Sciences domain, the Scientific Council aims to make changes in the LS3 panel title and the LS5 subtitle and descriptors in order to make disciplinary coverage more explicit and to encourage applicants.
- Lump sums: Advanced Grants awarded following the 2024 call will be funded using Lump sums. Lump sums are a funding model in which grants are defined up-front and fixed in the grant agreement, and funds are paid out upon completion of the activities in work packages.
