The current Strategic Programme 2021-2014 is now being updated for the period 2025-2027. It is not expected to be approved until the elections to the European Parliament in June 2024 and, as a consequence, it is expected that (subject to changes):

- The next Work programme that will be published will be for the period 2026-2027
- There will be no Work Programme for 2025 calls. These calls will be published once the new EC parliament is formed, probably in early 2025 (although the EC will start to define the calls in spring 2024). As a result,
o For Clusters and top-down (thematic) calls: a longer period is expected between 2024 and 2025
o For ERC, MSCA calls: as these calls are not subject to the Strategic Programme, they will open with the same periodicity
- In the meantime, amendments are being made to the 2024 Work Programme, and some 2024 calls may be published next year
