European Commission Launches new MSCA call "Choose Europe for Science" Call with €1.25 Billion Budget

16/05/2025

This week, the European Commission announced the update of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) work programme, highlighting the new "Choose Europe for Science" call. This pilot initiative, part of a broader effort to attract and retain scientific talent in Europe, has been launched with a total budget of €1.25 billion for 2025.

Call Details

The "Choose Europe for Science" call will open on October 1, 2025 and close on December 3, 2025, aiming to increase the attractiveness of research careers in Europe by addressing job insecurity and offering excellent working conditions. This initiative will support projects where academic and non-academic organizations recruit postdoctoral researchers with a view to offering long-term employment beyond the project period.

Selected organizations will be evaluated not only on the quality of their projects but also on the long-term career prospects they offer to researchers. Projects must recruit at least three researchers for a period of up to five years, with MSCA co-financing covering the first two to three years and institutions providing additional funds for the remaining years.

Key Dates

In addition to the "Choose Europe for Science" call, the updated work programme also includes the opening and closing dates for the "Postdoctoral Fellowships" and "Doctoral Networks" calls:
• The "Postdoctoral Fellowships" opened on May 8, 2025, and will close on September 10, 2025.
• The "Doctoral Networks" call will open on May 28, 2025, and close on November 25, 2025.
