THE SUSAN G. KOMEN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION
Career Catalyst Research (CCR) Grants have fostered promising breast cancer researchers who are in the early stages of their faculty careers by providing support for up to three years of “protected time” for research career development under the guidance of a Mentor Committee. It is expected that following the successful completion of a CCR Grant, awardees will launch independent research careers, successfully compete for subsequent research project funding, and emerge as key leaders in the fight against breast cancer.

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
The mission of the FY18 PCRP is to fund research that will lead to the elimination of death from prostate cancer and enhance the well-being of Service members, Veterans, and all men experiencing the impact of the disease. Within this context, the PCRP is interested in supporting research that addresses specific gaps in prostate cancer research and clinical care. Therefore, applications are required to address one or more of the following FY18 PCRP Overarching Challenges:
  • Develop treatments that improve outcomes for men with lethal prostate cancer
  • Reduce lethal prostate cancer in African Americans, Veterans, and other high-risk populations
  • Define the biology of lethal prostate cancer to reduce death
  • Improve the quality of life for survivors of prostate cancer

    EFIS - EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF IMMUNOLOGICAL SOCIETIES
    EFIS and the European Journal of Immunology (EJI) are proud to offer financial support for immunology-themed meetings, workshops and schools that are organized in Europe and are international in nature.

    Specifically, through its support, EFIS aims to enhance interaction between young scientists and established immunologists, providing funding to be used as travel bursaries to award to eligible and deserving junior researchers who, in many cases, would be unable to attend quality immunology-themed events without such support.

    AVHF - ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT FOUNDATION
    The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Sofja Kovalevskaja Award is granted to young exceptionally promising researchers from abroad in recognition of outstanding academic achievements. The award is designed to enable them to embark on academic careers in Germany by establishing their own junior research groups at research institutions in Germany.
    The programme is open to scientists and scholars from all countries and disciplines who completed their doctorates with distinction less than six years ago. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation particularly welcomes applications from qualified, female junior researchers.

    AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR CANCER RESEARCH (AACR)
    This award has been established by the American Association for Cancer Research and Eli Lilly and Company to acknowledge and catalyze the growing importance of interdisciplinary teams to the understanding of cancer and/or the translation of research discoveries into clinical cancer applications.
    The AACR Team Science Award will recognize an outstanding interdisciplinary research team for its innovative and meritorious science that has advanced or likely will advance our fundamental knowledge of cancer or a team that has applied existing knowledge to advance the detection, diagnosis, prevention or treatment of cancer.

    HUMAN FRONTIER SCIENCE PROGRAMME
    HFSP postdoctoral fellowships encourage early career scientists to broaden their research skills by moving into new areas of study while working in a new country. The HFSP fellowship program strongly supports frontier, potentially transformative (‘out-of-the-box’) proposals and encourages applications for high-risk projects

    HFSP fellowships are for three years. Fellows may choose to stay for up to three years in the host country or use the last year of their fellowship to return to their home country or to move to another HFSPO member country.

    Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. in a biological discipline, who will broaden their expertise by proposing a project in the life sciences which is significantly different from their previous Ph.D. or postdoctoral work.

    Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships (CDF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. from outside the life sciences (e.g. in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or computer sciences), who have not worked in biological fields before.
