ALZHEIMER'S DRUG DISCOVERY FOUNDATION
The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) funds drug discovery and development research programs in the field of Alzheimer's disease (AD), related dementias and cognitive aging. The ADDF seeks to fill the critical translational funding gap between basic research and later stage drug development by funding promising drug discovery and development programs. In addition to funding academic programs, the ADDF also invests in and creates early stage biotechnology companies. The ADDF also co-sponsors conferences to stimulate new ideas and approaches in areas of interest to the Foundation.

ASCI - American Society for Clinical Investigation
The American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) established in 1908, is one of the nation's oldest and most respected medical honor societies. The ASCI is dedicated to the advancement of research that extends the understanding and improves the treatment of human diseases, and its members are committed to mentoring future generations of physician-scientists.

The Harrington Discovery Institute at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, part of a national initiative unveiled in February 2012 called the Harrington Project, is a nonprofit medical institute dedicated to physician-scientists, enabling them to transform breakthrough insights into novel therapies that enhance patient care. The Harrington Project is fueled by $250 million in donations and other funding, including $50 million from the Harrington Family.

HUMAN FRONTIER SCIENCE PROGRAMME

The Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO) supports innovative basic research into fundamental biological problems, with emphasis placed on novel approaches that cross disciplinary boundaries.

Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. in a biological discipline, who will broaden their expertise by proposing a project in the life sciences which is significantly different from their previous Ph.D. or postdoctoral work.

Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships (CDF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. from outside the life sciences (e.g. in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or computer sciences), who have not worked in biological fields during their previous training.

The HFSP fellowship program funds innovative, ground-breaking projects that have the potential to advance knowledge in the applicants’ field of study or open a new approach to a research problem. High risk research is supported.

FEDER - FEDER
Fomentar el desenvolupament de la recerca en l'àmbit de les malalties poc freqüents mitjançant el finançament de projectes de recerca.
Tindran caràcter de recerques objecte d'aquesta convocatòria la recerca básica i translacional.
Es consideren malalties rares o poc freqüents aquelles que compleixen els paràmetres de prevalença reconeguts internacionalment, és a dir que compleixen dos criteris:
1) la prevalença acceptada per la Unió Europea de 5 o menys casos per 10.000 habitants, i
2) que la malaltia estigui inclosa en les bases de dades Orphanet (www.orpha.net) o OMIM (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/omim) amb nombre ORPHA o OMIM assignat.

DEMENTIA CONSORTIUM
The Dementia Consortium aims to expedite the development of new drugs for dementia by supporting research into novel targets for neurodegeneration. It brings together the voluntary, academic and private sectors in order to tackle the growing dementia problem. The Consortium seeks to end the ten-year wait for a new dementia treatment by closing the gap between fundamental academic research and the pharmaceutical industry’s drug discovery programmes. It provides funding, expertise and resources to support new drug targets emerging from academic research that hold the promise of patient benefit.

ROI - RADIATION ONCOLOGY INSTITUTE
The ROI is currently seeking research proposals for innovative approaches to making quality assurance (QA) more personalized by using big data to identify patient, disease or treatment characteristics that are predictive of unwanted outcomes, dosimetric uncertainties or outright errors, needed patient management interventions or general process variability. The goal is to get researchers thinking about how QA efforts can be differentiated by the level of risk for each patient so that resources can be allocated accordingly, in comparison to the current QA model in which “one size fits most.”

L'objecte de la present convocatòria és la tutoria de projectes de valorització dels actius resultants de la investigació, per al seu trasllat al mercat, ja sigui com un spin-off o com un acord de transferència, que requereixen la validació i desenvolupament de la seva proposta de generació de valor.
