CONCERN FOUNDATION
By specifically targeting promising early-career scientists and providing critically needed “seed” money for innovative projects, Concern Foundation supports development of the next generation of cancer researchers and thus promotes progress in understanding cancer biology and improved approaches to cancer.
Proposals must be hypothesis-driven and centered on cancer genetics, cancer biology, or cancer immunology. Concern will not fund clinical trials, cancer epidemiology, or behavioral studies.

    The aim of the INTER mobility programme is to promote the exchange between research groups from public research institutions in Luxembourg, and leading research groups abroad, between 6 weeks and 1 year. The funding covers the salary of the researcher, travel costs and a mobility allowance.

    HUMAN FRONTIER SCIENCE PROGRAMME
    HFSP postdoctoral fellowships encourage early career scientists to broaden their research skills by moving into new areas of study while working in a new country. The HFSP fellowship program strongly supports frontier, potentially transformative (‘out-of-the-box’) proposals and encourages applications for high-risk projects. The projects should be interdisciplinary in nature and should challenge existing paradigms by using novel approaches and techniques. Scientifically, they should address an important problem or a barrier to progress in the field.

    HFSP fellowships are for three years. Fellows may choose to stay for up to three years in the host country or use the last year of their fellowship to return to their home country or to move to another HFSPO member country.

    Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. in a biological discipline, who will broaden their expertise by proposing a project in the life sciences which is significantly different from their previous Ph.D. or postdoctoral work.

    Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships (CDF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. from outside the life sciences (e.g. in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or computer sciences), who have not worked in biological fields before.

    AGAUR - AGENCIA DE GESTIO AJUTS UNIVERSITARIS DE RECERCA
    L'objecte d'aquestes bases és finançar projectes destinats a l'obtenció de prototipus i a la valorització i transferència dels resultats d'investigació generats per equips de recerca de Catalunya.
    Els projectes objecte d'aquestes bases han de correspondre a la fase de prova de concepte segons l'escala de maduresa tecnològica (les fases de prova de concepte corresponen a les fases 3-7 de l'escala de maduresa tecnològica, technology readiness level, TRL), segons el document inclòs al programa de treball de la Comissió Europea Horitzó 2020, Decisió C (2014) 4995, de 22 de juliol de 2014, i han de comprendre activitats estructurades de caràcter demostratiu que permetin l'assoliment d'una prova de concepte en forma de prototipus, escala pilot, prova preindustrial o assaig preclínic, entre d'altres, i que possibilitin reduir les incerteses sobre la viabilitat tècnica i comercial de la tecnologia en desenvolupament.

    El finançament de projectes d'innovació que estiguin en les fases 1 i 2 dins l'escala de maduresa tecnològica (technology readiness levels, TRL), document inclòs al programa de treball de la Comissió Europea Horitzó 2020, Decisió C (2014) 4995, de 22 de juliol de 2014, per a la valorització de coneixement amb potencial d'incorporació al sector productiu. Els projectes han d'estar destinats al reforç de la protecció del coneixement generat i a les primeres proves (preprototips), i també a la definició de la ruta de comercialització, la generació del model de negoci, l'anàlisi de viabilitat tecnològica i comercial o el disseny de prova de concepte o a altres activitats similars que s'englobin dins d'aquestes fases.

    L'objecte de la present actuació és finançar la participació d'entitats espanyoles integrants de consorcis transnacionals que hagin concorregut prèviament a convocatòries transnacionals en què participa l'ISCIII, relacionades en l'Annex 2 de la convocatòria, sempre que hagin estat prioritzades en l'avaluació duta a terme pel programa europeu corresponent.

    Career Catalyst Research (CCR) Grants have fostered promising breast cancer researchers who are in the early stages of their faculty careers by providing support for up to three years of “protected time” for research career development under the guidance of a Mentor Committee.     DEMENTIA CONSORTIUM
    Novel dementia targets and target validation work conducted by academics will be partnered with the drug discovery expertise of the Dementia Consortium. We provide full funding for projects along with access to expert in vitro biology knowledge, high-throughput screening, chemical and fragment libraries, medicinal chemistry and antibody engineering teams. Grant holders have regular project review meetings with members of the Dementia Consortium to help progress successful projects from early research findings through to target validation and drug discovery. Promising targets are moved towards the clinic through the successful licence of these projects to industrial partners with the ultimate aim of bringing benefit to patients.

    Translational Research Training in Hematology (TRTH) provides junior researchers with a unique, year-long training and mentoring experience. TRTH is focused on helping early-career hematological scientists build successful careers in hematological translational research.
    The TRTH program begins with an intensive week-long course held in the spring. Mornings are dedicated to didactic and interactive sessions which further participants' understanding of translational research methodology and career development. Afternoons are devoted to small group sessions in which participants meet with their TRTH mentors, peers, and faculty to refine their individual research proposals. Informal presentations by leaders in hematology, designed to illustrate the variety of pathways to a successful career in hematology research, take place in the evenings.

    The aim of the INTER mobility programme is to promote the exchange between research groups from public research institutions in Luxembourg, and leading research groups abroad, between 6 weeks and 1 year.
